A Transformative Path for Young People Through Movement
At Active Futures Academy, we believe movement is fundamental to learning, well-being, and personal growth. We equip Key Stage 2, 3, and 4 learners (aged 7–16) with the emotional, academic, and social skills to thrive in education and life.
Unlocking Potential Beyond Traditional Classrooms
We are committed to helping young people realise their full potential, regardless of the challenges they may have faced in mainstream education.
A Safe, Inclusive, and Nurturing Environment
We provide a supportive, trauma-informed setting for learners who have been permanently excluded, are at risk of exclusion, or are struggling to thrive within mainstream schools.
Through our innovative curriculum centered around active engagement, vocational opportunity, and physical literacy, students rebuild confidence, self-worth, and a renewed enthusiasm for learning.
Who Is Active Futures Academy For?

Three Distinct Learner Pathways
Every young person follows a pathway that reflects their unique strengths, passions, and personal development goals.
Active Pathway
Designed for learners who thrive through movement, practical activity, and kinesthetic learning. Sport, fitness, and outdoor education are woven across the curriculum.
Focuses on emotional regulation, teamwork, leadership skills, and physical well-being.
Creative Pathway
Supports young people who express themselves best through making, designing, and experimenting with tangible materials.
Covers textiles, craft and design, digital media, and hands-on creative production in a relaxed studio setting.
Blended Pathway
The best of both worlds. Allows students to combine active movement-led learning with creative development based on individual timetables.
Ideal for learners needing variety, multi-sensory expression, or a gradual, staggered timetable to maintain engagement.
Core Skills Grounded in Practical Purpose
Alongside their specialist pathway, every student at Active Futures Academy receives structured instruction in English and Mathematics.
Students work toward Functional Skills qualifications at their starting entry point, with pathways for higher tier achievements including GCSE preparation.
Wednesday Offer: Future Foundations
Dedicated to personal growth, identity, emotional resilience, relationships, and employability. Students work toward AQA Unit Awards and Level 1 Personal & Social Development qualifications.
Safeguarding is at the Heart of Our Academy
Active Futures Academy adheres strictly to Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) statutory guidance.
